The Janitor storms home to qualify for Miracle Mile

The Janitor showed he had made it in the big time

Queensland visitor The Janitor (Always B Miki)  showed he had made it in the big time with a devastating finishing sprint to take the $75,000 Bioworma Sprint at Menangle on Saturday night.

Drawn the pole, The Janitor didn’t have enough speed early to hold out the opposition.

Instead Rakero Rebel went for the early lead with both Kingman and Swayzee showing great speed. Luke McCarthy was determined to lead and Swayzee was caught in his typical position outside the leader.

Kingman was still in front turning for home but Rakero Rocket got the run to challenge and Swayzee continued to fight on in his customary manner.

THE JANITOR 7 MAR REPLAY

The Janitor only had two behind him on the final bend when Pete McMullen eased out and he was out five wide on straightening. Even then the task looked beyond him but he sprouted wings to run past a gallant Swayzee with Rakero Rocket a close third just in front of outsider Ubetcha Tigerpie who ran the race of his life having had a perfect run.

The Janitor ran 1.49.3 some seven tenths of a second slower than Leap To Fame.

McMullen and trainer Chantal Turpin have made no secret of their high opinion of The Janitor and its especially notable that he has been able to win in top company outside his home base of Albion Park.

Pete McMullen reflected on The Janitor’s impressive win.

You have to pinch yourself when you look over and see that I’ve just run past Swayzee and Kingman so its pretty incredible.

He’s still a little green he’s still learning obviously you see from there near last from one but hopefully this is his year. We’re happy to be here and be a part of it.

Swayzee showed yet again that he is in peak form and perhaps this could be his year to win a Miracle Mile after trying in the past. Kingman tired in the home straight but connections reported nothing amiss and he has earned a place in the Final Miracle Mile field.
