Leap To Fame has another Miracle Mile in his sights.
Leap To Fame scored one of his greatest wins
Australia’s leading pacer Leap To Fame (Bettors Delight) scored one of his greatest wins when he outstayed a star studded field in the $75,000 International Animal Health Sprint at Menangle on Saturday evening.
Punters rallied to Leap To Fame despite the presence of noted speedster Hi Manameisjeff and his other great nemesis Don Hugo and Captains Knock.
As predicted Hi Manameisjeff flew the gate and Don Hugo from the pole draw plumped for the trail behind the leader. However Leap To Fame was caught three wide early before Grant Dixon sent him around to race outside the leader.
Former New Zealander Chase A Dream was given a one out and one back trail while Captains Knock eased right back to the field.
LEAP TO FAME 7 MAR REPLAY
Hi Manameisjeff was still in front on straightening and Leap To Fame looked to be labouring. Chase A Dream who was poised to strike issued a strong challenge and actually headed Leap To Fame. But that’s just when Leap To Fame shows his never say die qualities and he dug in to hold out Chase A Dream by a metre with Don Hugo who never really got a clear run in the home straight a somewhat unlucky third. Leap To Fame ran 1.48.6 for the mile including his last two quarters in 26.9 and 26.7 seconds.
Chase A Dream was having only his second Australian start for trainer Jason Grimson and he has earned himself a start in next week’s Miracle Mile. And he will now be a force to be reckoned with in the forthcoming features.
Grant Dixon seemed overwhelmed with emotion as he recounted Leap To Fame’s great win.
He felt super and I was really happy how he really dug in the straight and lifted in the last bit when it counted.
Larry’s just got such a great will to win and if he thinks he can get over the top of them and gets that feeling he always really does.
He tells us how much he wants to do. We work him to how he feels himself.
Leap To Fame will now attempt to win his second Miracle Mile next Saturday night.
