The Art Of Success makes it nine from eleven

Up and coming mare The Art of Success (Art Major) passed her biggest test with flying colours when led all the way win in the Hertz Melton Free For All at Victorian headquarters on Saturday evening.

The attractive four year old mare drew the pole and driver Mark Pitt had no trouble holding the early lead. The race spread out into Indian file with Jacks Ultimate Fury taking the trail with Calexico in third ahead of Operative Line.

But it was clear a long way from home that The Art Of Success had all her rivals struggling.

THE ART OF SUCCESS 1 AUG REPLAY

It’s a remarkable feat in just her eleventh start she has reached free for all class and her record is nearly impeccable with nine wins and two seconds.

Mark Pitt reflected on The Art Of Success’s improvement and rise through the rankings.

It was one of those things once the opposition all went back. She got a very easy lead time and we just rolled it at a genuine tempo. When they were making their moves I let her stride right up and she did it pretty easy.

She’s very limited to date with her starts but the more times she seen the gate the better she is getting off the gate. And probably tonight was the best she’s got off the gate.

She just fired off the gate, that’s always a good sign when we really got to buzz her we’re going to have something there to get through it. It’s a huge effort but Emma and Clayton turn them out so well. This girl I remember driving her coming through a heat and final at Mildura not that long ago. She’s come along in leaps and bounds from then on and let’s hope she keeps improving.

The win was yet another great night for Pitt and trainer Emma Stewart. Earlier in the evening they were successful with I Am The Storm (The Storm Inside) and Fairplay (Rock N Roll Heaven). Stewart combined with Taylor Ford with The Last Trip (Poster Boy) who blitzed his rivals.

Then Stewart’s fifth winner for the evening came with Star Vision (Always B Miki) which provided Pitt with his fourth winner for the night.
