It seems that trainer Jason Grimson can do no wrong. One of his most recent additions Captains Knock (Captaintreacherous) was in devastating form with an all the way harness racign win in the Somerset Farms Open Pace at Albion Park on Saturday evening.

Having his first start for Grimson, Captains Knock was initially favourite but then drifted as Cheerstolou was backed substantially. The race took on extra interest with the presence of outstanding mare Eye Keep Smiling and the speedy local Wisper A Secret.

Captains Knock was fast out but Wisper A Secret was able to hold out the field while Cheerstolou couldn’t cross. However after about 200 metres Captains Knock was given rein by Grimson and he exploded to the lead running his quarter in an incredible 25.9 seconds.

As the race progressed, Captains Knock just kept going faster. Eye Keep Smiling made a run three wide at the bell but with the pace being set by Captains Knock it was almost impossible for those behind to make up much ground. Cheerstolou had no luck caught outside the leader. But with a  second quarter of 28.4 seconds  and third quarter of 26.7 seconds Captains Knock just sped away from his five rivals as they left the back straight.

With Grimson urging him Captains Knock who is a renowned speedster was on his own as he ran out a 22 metre win over the hapless Cheerstolou with Hes No Romeo in third. The overall mile rate of 1.48.7 was only one tenth of a second behind Leap To Fame’s track record.

Captains Knock was a brilliant juvenile under the care of Brad Hewitt and prior to last night had already won over $925,000. But he was disappointing in the recent Inter dominion Heats as he was expected to be prominent in the series. Hewitt then allowed Grimson the chance to get Captains Knock going again and he showed with his win last night that he is ready to show his best form again. Earlier this season Captains Knock just failed in his effort to win all country Cups and take the million dollar bonus. But on his effort last night he has to be considered for the forthcoming features in both New South Wales and Victoria if Grimson elects to run him.

For Grimson it was the third leg of a driving treble. Earlier he scored with the Alex Ashwood trained Williams (The Storm Inside) who won the opening event. Then another of Grimson’s recent additions Heza Punk Rocker (Rock N Roll Heaven) blazed around in 1.52.8 running his rivals ragged in the Racing and Sports Junior Free for All.
