Glitter Aint Gold upsets the favourites in Free For All success
Up and comer Glitter Aint Gold made amends for his last start failure with a well timed burst to take out the Kevin Newman Free For All at Menangle on Saturday evening.

Only last week at his previous start Glitter Aint Gold had a torrid run before finishing at the rear after racing wide for most of the trip. Obviously harness racing trainer Nathan Turnbull considered that he had taken no harm from that effort and he lined up again last night.
The race was considered a match race between the much improved Nonotthebuttons and the star mare Lux Aeterna but there was also strong support for Betterthancash.
GLITTER AINT GOLD 1 AUG REPLAY
By the time the race was under way the fog had set in and it was difficult to spot the runners as they entered the back straight. Caller Fred Hastings did a sterling job trying to identify runners.
As expected Nonotthebuttons flew the gate as driver Seaton Grima had no hesitation in holding the front while Lux Aeterna was able to take the trail. Ripp was caught wide early and Glitter Aint Gold settled back four on the rails for driver Jett Turnbull with his stable mate Jorge Street racing outside the leader.
Nonotthebuttons looked to be travelling within himself as he ran his second quarter in a leisurely 29.9 seconds.
However Lux Aeterna obtained an inside run and she soon had the better of Nonotthebuttons who wasn’t finding much. Then Betterthancash came with a spirited challenge and looked the likely winner as he edged clear. But Glitter Aint Gold who was able to secure a run charged down the outside and he prevailed by a head from Betterthancash with Lux Aeterna half a neck away a close third.
Glitter Aint Gold ran 1.51.9 for the mile journey. While the five year old continues to improve with racing, it appears that for Lux Aeterna this may be her final season before she goes to stud.
Betterthencash ran his best race for some time and he should be in the winners circle shortly for trainer Chris Judd.
