Cormoran Strike in back to back success

Cormoran Strike in back to back success

By Harnesslink ·

Striking former New Zealander Cormoran Strike (Creatine) made it back to back harness racing wins with a most impressive effort to take out the Prydes Easifeed Trotters Mobile at Menangle on Saturday evening.

The fog again played havoc in trying to identify runners.

The highlight was the presence of the former Italian trotter Gandhi Mail who had created a big impression when he scored at Menangle a fortnight ago.

Cormoran Strike found the early lead before surrendering the front to Your Majesty who worked up wide to eventually take up the running. Gandhi Mail didn’t show a great deal of early speed and was back in the field but driver Chris Geary was off as they settled down and he worked around with an impressive sprint to sit outside the leader.

Despite having to work hard Gandhi Mail was travelling comfortably. However Your Majesty who went down narrowly to Gandhi Mail at their last clash showed a lot more fight and beat him off as they straightened.

However Brad Hewitt was biding his time on Cormoran Strike and he let down powerfully to finish too strongly for Southern Diamond who was having his first run for David Aiken after having raced in Queensland for all of this year and before that his early career was in New Zealand.

Cormoran Strike is trained by Brad Hewitt who prepared the Inter Dominion winner The Locomotive who unfortunately since then has been injury prone and unable to race.

Cormoran Strike is an improving type and while lacking the brilliance of The Locomotive shows staying ability which will stand him well in future trotting events.

Gandhi Mail weakened to finish sixth but he was just twelve metres from the winner and should be given another chance.
