Senses proves her worth with brilliant win
Outstanding filly Senses (American Ideal) showed just how good she is with a courageous win against a star studded group of three year olds at Menangle on Saturday night.

Regarded as one of the races of the night due to the high calibre of horses running, Senses was one of the favourites along with Zeus Lightning and the unbeaten The Niteshift and talented colt Alert Bay.
In a keenly contested race, Alert Bay found the lead but gave away the front when Will Rixon came looking for the lead on Senses. However no sooner had he settled in front he in turn surrendered the lead to Zeus Lightning. The field was flying as these two pacers were really worked up with the fast pace.
SENSES 6 JUNE REPLAY
The Niteshift gradually made up ground race one out up towards the lead while Alert Bay was now well pocketed three back on the rails. Zeus Lightning still led on straightening but The Niteshift refused to give in as he issued another challenge.
In the meantime Senses was desperately looking for a run as Alert Bay was getting clear. Just when it seemed that Senses would not be able to find the gap, she found some room. But to add drama she appeared to knuckle on her front legs. But nonetheless she fond the line a head in front of The Niteshift with Alert Bay a close third just in front of Zeus Lightning.

Senses ran a best of 1.50.8 for the mile and she is fast proving herself as the younger half sister to Leap To Fame and Swayzee. As indicated previously trainer David Thorn has played a patient game with Senses not rushing her as a two year old. However even Thorn would be delighted at the way Senses has matured into a top flight filly at this stage of her career where she has now appeared just nine times for six wins and three seconds.
Senses is now likely to be off to Queensland for a crack at the Group 1 Queensland Oaks on 18 July where she will likely clash against Arrhythmia who defeated her in the New South Wales Oaks last month.
It’s also likely that The Niteshift and Alert Bay will go to Albion Park for the Group 1 Queensland Derby on the same night.
