Prestigious takes next step

Prestigious takes next step

By Harnesslink ·

Prestigious (Majestic Son) trained by Jonny Cox went to the next level when he beat New Zealand’s best trotters in the $40,000 Group Three Tactical Landing Ashburton Trotters Sprint at Ashburton today.

“It’s been about timing. A lot of our top trotters have fallen away this year and we’ve lost a lot of good horses. It’s a real building year for New Zealand trotters and we’re lucky he’s one of the ones capitalising,” driver Kimberly Butt said after the win.

In today’s feature Butt had no choice but to press forward.

“I didn’t really know what he would do so I had to go with him. He wanted to go forward, so that’s where we went.”

And over the back there were no challengers.

“No one was too keen to take us on with the wind.”

PRESTIGIOUS REPLAY

At the line Prestigious which is owned by Kimberly’s grandmother Jenny Butt, had a length to spare on Mr Love with a neck back to Wilma’s Mate in third.

Kimberly’s father Anthony has fashioned a wonderful record in this race, winning with White Horse Pride (1990), Sundon’s Way (1998), Lyell Creek (2000), Take A Moment 2002 and 2003) and Peak (2013). But today it was all about his daughter.
