Lovemeto shows his class

Lovemeto shows his class

By Harness Analyst ·

Talented trotter Lovemeto (What The Hill) gave one of his best harness racing efforts to date with a tough win in the Aldebaran Park Trotters Free For All at Melton on Saturday evening.

One of trainer’s Chris Svanosio’s three runners in the event Lovmeto was favourite but all eyes were on I’m Bobby who was resuming from a let up. And from the pole I’m Bobby showed his customary speed to lead. By contrast Lovmeto was caught wide early and driver Kerryn Manning had to use a bit of petrol to eventually get up to race outside the leader.

Although he had by far a harder run it was race fitness that saw Lovemeto gradually get the better of I’m Bobby along the back straight to draw clear on the final bend. Stablemate Remus Phoenix set out in pursuit but Lovemeto had established a winning break and he ran to the line a comfortable winner over Remus Phoenix with El Resamo running his usual honest race in third.

LOVEMETO 16 MAY REPLAY

I’m Bobby weakened to finish sixth but he’ll be all the better for that run and punters should expect a better performance next time when he should be fitter.

Kerry Manning stated after the event

I had a gear malfunction just before they scored up, so had a bit of luck there. It panned out as we thought. Bobby (I’m Bobby) led comfortably and we had a bit more work to get around Jackie (Barker on El Resamo) horse, it was a little keen around the first turn, more than I wanted to.

Once he got there, he relaxed well. I’m Bobby was a little bit keen for the first quarter so I just left him alone. I just put a bit of pressure on him because he was first up and this horse is pretty fit.

So I put a pressure on him down the back and he was too good for them.

He’s got a bit of everything he’s been a lovely horse throughout his career and won some nice races, he’s had a lot of issues along the way which held him up quite a bit but he seems to be managing them well now. He feels really sound and well. It’s hard to know how far he’ll go, it depends on his soundness but at the minute he’s in the zone doing it really well. There’s better horses out there to race against but he can only beat what you’re against and he’d doing it nicely.

Lovemeto has been entered for this year’s Inter Dominion and trainer Chris Svanosio will have a strong hand as he also has defending champion Arcee Phoenix entered to try for back to back successes. However Lovemeto is a worthy second string and should give a respectable sight if he accepts for the series.
