Lady Rocknrolla A stars in muddy feature

WILKES-BARRE PA – The A Rocknroll Dance mare Lady Rocknrolla A was tighter in her second start at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, winning an $11,200 harness racing feature for pacing distaffers in 1:54.2 during a soggy Sunday twilight card where the temperature did not exceed 45 degrees.

The recent Canadian import and driver James MacDonald were intent on setting the pace in this event, with the favorite putting second choice Royaltywestho (Matt Kakaley) in behind her by the:27.2 quarter. A breather to the half in :57.3 was followed by a challenge from Topville Angelina (George Napolitano Jr.) nearing, at and past the 1:25.4 three-quarters, but Lady Rocknrolla A dug in gamely to defeat that challenger for trainer Carmen Auciello and owner Stephen Klunowski.

LADY ROCKNROLLA A REPLAY

Another $11,200 contest, this one for trotters, saw Nextroundsonme cover a ton of Pocono real estate yet still emerge victorious in 1:56.1.

Four-wide to the eighth before tucking, the Cantab Hall gelding then moved second-over, had to go three-wide around the far bend, yet still summoned enough for driver Tyler Buter to hold off the inside move of Consus Victory (Jason Bartlett), winning for trainer Jenny Melander and owner Jose Cervantes.

NEXTROUNDSONME REPLAY

The meet’s leading trainer, Gilbert Garcia-Herrera, sent out three winning horses, driven by three different drivers; two of them were Tyler Buter and the meet’s leading driver, George Napolitano Jr., who also each recorded a three-bagger.

The top claiming trotters at the track will be featured in a pair of $12,800 contests on the Monday card at Pocono, with Thisisshe looking for her fourth straight win upon being reunited after a claim with owner Gilbert Garcia-Owen and trainer Gilbert Garcia-Herrera. Monday’s action begins at 12:30 p.m.; program pages will be available at https://www.phha.org/downsmsppps.html.
