Five feeds a day unlocks Rising Storm

By Harnesslink ·

Between them Ascot Park trainer Mark Shirley and new owner Snow Devery have found the key to four year old Rising Storm’s (Raging Bull) ability and their reward was a win at Winton yesterday.

At the end of the 1609 metres Rising Storm had a head to spare over Simply Amazing.

The four year old is a recent addition to the Shirley stable after he was struggling to capture form for his trainer and owner Warren Bryant.

“Snow shoes for Warren and Warren was having trouble with the horse’s feet. He suggested that Snow take a half share in him and do the shoeing. Snow came and asked me to train him,” Mark said.

Shirley says Devery spends about two hours a day looking after Rising Storm, getting his feet right, brushing and feeding the horse.

“The horse gets feed five times a day because he’s not been eating that great. All the credit goes to Snow who puts the time in with this horse.”

Shirley says it’s not unusual to feed a horse that many times a day.

“Robert Cameron told me that when he had Ermis at our barn.

Meanwhile the Brad Williamson trained To The Moon And Back (One Over Da Moon) on his best behaviour, won the highest assessed trot yesterday.

Driven by Kerryn Tomlinson the four year old received a good run on the outside running line. Tomlinson then brought the gelding three wide on the turn and he held on to win by a neck from Joany Baby.
