Redback Bob earns more bucks and a break
Although Redback Bob (Majestic Son) wasn’t at his best yesterday, he beat stablemate Kings Choice and retained his unbeaten record when he won his Diamond Creek Farm/SBSR final at Winton.
Three quarters of a length separated the pair, with another seven and a quarter lengths back to Yukon Hill, making it a Phil Williamson trifecta.
REDBACK BOB REPLAY

“He’s always had good ability and I knew he was a good horse before he raced. He’s got a good family background, a good gait, speed and stamina, so he ticks most of the boxes. That makes him better than average, that’s for sure,” Williamson said.
The win was the three year old gelding’s third from three starts.
“He’s going to have a break now because he needs it. He wasn’t as good today. He’d had a big amount of travel and ran that fast time the other day (at Ascot Park) with no respite. He still showed his quality today and when good horses are not at their best they can still win.”
Redback Bob is by Majestic Son out of Sundon mare Dwindle Mist, making him a full brother to Group One winning trotter Harry Stamper.
Williamson has an excellent strike rate with the stock of Majestic Son, with the likes of Majestic Man (19), Humble Lad (11) and Tarragindi (7). He also developed Oscar Bonavena (33).
“Majestic Sons are very fast and he’s (Redback Bob) very fast. That’s why I like them. A lot of people don’t like them but I can’t get enough of them.”
In a day when all races were run over a mile, the fastest trotting mile of 1-58.2 was set by three year old trotting filly Delphyne trained by Brent McIntyre, while the fastest pacing mile of 1-54.8 was recorded by the Peter Hunter trained Justaweesip who won the last race.
Seven favourites won across the ten races. Massive Merc ($1.40), Franco Newark ($1.80), Jaccka Henry ($2.70), Redback Bob ($1.10), Rakmacknra ($1.70), Delphyne ($2.60) and Indulge Me ($1.40).
Nathan Williamson was the driver of the day with three wins and he also trained two winners.
Across the ten race card SBSR horses won six races.
