Two Williamson three year olds shine

Going into yesterday’s Diamond Creek Farm/SBSR Southern Surge meeting at Winton, Branxholme harness racing trainer Nathan Williamson didn’t think there was much between his two runners Rakmacknra (Captaintreacherous) and Off The Canvas (Art Major) and the result proved him to be right.

RAKMACKNRA REPLAY

“Off The Canvas is more of a racehorse and has the all round game but the other fella is improving and he’s got the bigger motor. As we stand today there’s not too much between them, but Rakmacknra has more improvement in him and has developed into a really nice horse,” he commented after Rakmacknra held on to beat his stablemate by a head, with five and a quarter lengths back to Fearthedance.

Williamson has no big targets planned for either of the talented pair.

“They will both have a freshen up now. I tried to get them bang on for today so they can both have a week off. Rakmacknra will race on the bigger tracks while Off The Canvas with his tactical skills will go to the smaller tracks. They’ll both race through the grades. There are no big targets.”

Also at Winton, Indulge Me (Downbytheseaside) was impressive for the stable.

From her second row draw, she settled off the speed before circling the field into a head wind down the back to take the lead, winning easily by one and three quarter lengths.

Owned by John and Katrina Price, the three year old filly has some lofty spring targets with the Nevele R Three Year Old Fillies Final and the New Zealand Oaks on her radar.
