Down Under Winners from North America

Francent, a five-year-old daughter of Vincent, became the 10^th fastest New Zealand bred of all-time when she clocked 1:47.6 winning the Grade 2 $255,000 Milton Stakes at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday night (September 5).

She led home a NZ quinella with Louie’s Girl second in a fresh race, track and Canadian harness racing record. Francent has won four of her six starts on North American soil and 17 of her 35 lifetime starts for $442,517.

Shoobee Doo, a 10-year-old gelding bred by NSW studmaster Paul Carmody, led most of the way and fought off several challengers to capture the $13,500 Open Handicap in 1:54 at Batavia Downs on Saturday. It was his seventh success for the year and improved his stake tally to $605,414.

A total of four ANZAC bred pacers recorded sub 1:50 performances in North America last week. Ultimate Racy Girl (1:49.4) and Jolimont (1:49.6) both earned new lifetime marks, while Dalton Shard (1:49) and Anna Love (1:49.8) already held sub 1:50 records.

Tenzing Bromac completed back-to-back $15,000 Invitational victories at the Windsor Fair when he led throughout and was never seriously challenged in 1:51.8 – only 0.4 outside the track record.
