Race Of The Week - Kiwi export comes from the clouds!

Sometimes the most spectacular victories come from horses who appear to have absolutely no chance turning for home.

That was certainly the case at Dayton Raceway on Saturday night (October 10), when New Zealand-bred Alta Revelry N produced a breathtaking last-to-first performance to capture the $30,000 Open Pace.

With a fierce battle for the lead unfolding ahead of him, the eight-year-old son of Sunshine Beach was still last at the three-quarter pole as the leaders clocked 1:22.1.

But the race was about to change dramatically.

As the front-runners began to tire and the field bunched approaching the final turn, driver Trevor Smith had little choice but to launch Alta Revelry N four-wide.

What followed was a stunning finishing burst.

Sweeping around his rivals on the outside, Alta Revelry N charged into contention and powered past Higher Ground to snatch victory by half a length in a sizzling 1:50.4.

Win Lous Or Draw finished third, three-quarters of a length behind the winner.

Trained by Antonia Storer for J M F Racing, Alta Revelry N rewarded his supporters with a handsome $27.20 win dividend.
