Two weeks left for the WASBA Stallion Service Raffle
Two weeks left for the WASBA Stallion Service Raffle

A service to Always B Miki, Bettor’s Wish or Downbytheseaside is up for grabs in the WA Standardbred Breeders Association Raffle, along with second prize of a $3,000 Service Fee Voucher to use at one of the participating studs – Alabar Farms, Cobbitty Equine or Woodlands Stud.
The winning ticket holder has a choice of one of these three world class stallions, arguably three of the best pacing stallions available in the world today. WASBA covers the cost of the service fee and any applicable stallion levy.
WASBA President Jeanine Diederich said: “Every year we try a fresh approach, offering something that a lot of breeders find it harder to afford, as well as something of a type and quality that most breeders will want.
“This year we are excited to have a stallion from each of these leading studs, and with the second prize providing a $3,000 service fee voucher, it’s a fantastic opportunity for breeders to indulge their wish list if they purchase a winning ticket.”
Always B Miki is fully booked in Australia. That means if you don’t already have a booking this is one of the few ways you can get a booking to this highly sought after stallion. And if you do have a booking, why not try to make it a free service by trying your luck and buying a ticket for just $100.
Bettor’s Wish in his very first Australian season produced the 2025 Australian 2yo Filly of the Year. In his own right he was a champion racehorse, named Dan Patch 3YO Pacing Colt of the Year and Aged Pacer of the Year, with a lifetime best 1:47.6 and over $2.6 million in earnings.
Downbytheseaside is having phenomenal success in both hemispheres with winners like Pebble Beach and current leading three-year-old Brandon Blvd, and a number of outstanding progeny in Australia and New Zealand including Jumal. He is currently the leading sire of three-year-olds in Australia. As a racehorse he was named Dan Patch 3YO Pacing Colt of the Year and still holds the world record of 1:50 for a two-year-old on a half-mile track.
The choice of stallions for first prize is hard enough, but the second prize winner will have $3,000 to spend. They can choose from 32 stallions including 12 at Alabar (including the almighty Art Major and rising stars Pebble Beach and Captain Crunch), 15 at Cobbitty Equine (including Huntsville and all-conquering Confederate and six new stallions) and five at Woodlands Stud (including world champion racehorses and sires Bettor’s Delight and Sweet Lou).
This is the 15th raffle run by the Western Australian Standardbred Breeders Association (WASBA) with each year offering something different. As with all previous raffles, tickets are limited to a small number (300) to maximise the odds of
winning, and each ticket is $100. The raffle is open to breeders across Australia and New Zealand.
Winning prizes must be used in the 2026/27 breeding season. Winning tickets can be sold or transferred but are not redeemable for cash with the providing stud.
The raffle closes at midnight on September 14, 2026 and will be drawn on September 15.
As a bonus to ticket purchasers who also pay their WASBA membership ($20 Single, $30 Family) prior to raffle close, there are two $1,000 stallion service voucher early bird draws after the raffle draw, to use on stallions at studs supporting WASBA in the 2025/26 breeding season, including the above three studs and Allwood Stud and Murray Vets through Decron Horse Care.
WASBA uses any profits from the raffle to supplement race stakes for mares in selected races, provide breeder incentives and awards, and support rehoming initiatives.
Jeanine commented “supporting this raffle by purchasing a ticket is not only giving yourself a chance to win a fantastic prize, but it also supports our racing future.” Anyone interested in purchasing a ticket can download a flyer from the WASBA website or from this link here. Complete and forward to info@wasba.com.au, or call Jeanine (0447 053 040) or Howard King (0418 207 079). Payment can be made via credit card or direct deposit.
