Turvey rates Enjoy A Coldie a good chance
Baldivis harness racing horseman Nathan Turvey has several good drives at Gloucester Park on Friday night and he rates trotter Enjoy A Coldie as his best winning prospect.
The eight-year-old Enjoy A Coldie will start from the 20m mark in the 2503m Garrard’s Horse And Hound Handicap in which he will clash with last-start winners Armed Force and The Truth.
“Enjoy A Coldie has come back very well after a spell with seconds to The Truth at Gloucester Park and Armed Force at Pinjarra,” he said.
“He is capable of turning the tables on those trotters, but he will need luck, considering the handicaps. He put in a very good run at Pinjarra on Monday when Armed Force beat him. But I thought that my horse did a lot more work.”
Monday’s event was a 2185m mobile in which Enjoy A Coldie raced three wide early and then worked hard in the breeze. Armed Force raced wide early and then was restrained to the rear. He was ninth 1000m from home before he sustained a spirited three-wide burst which took him to the lead about 400m from home.
Armed Force, trained by Gary Hall sen., covered the final 800m in 58.8sec. and he fought on grandly to defy Enjoy A Coldie in the closing stages. He won by just under a length.
The Bob Fyfe-trained The Truth is favourably drawn on the inside of the front line and will be fancied to complete a winning hat-trick for Morgan Woodley at Gloucester Park.
The Truth trailed the pacemaker Idle Maple before finishing strongly to win by 4m from Enjoy A Coldie in a 2503m stand last Friday week. He set the pace and held on to win by a half-head from Diamond Geezer in a similar event ten nights earlier.
Turvey, who notched his 75th winner for the season when he landed 14/1 chance Everton VC a narrow fast-finishing victor over Am Opulent and Kiralin at Gloucester Park on Tuesday night, gave Three Kings, Robyns C C and Flyalong Falcon each-way chances.
“Flyalong Falcon is working well and I expect a strong run from him,” he said. “I also expect Three Kings to go well.”
