Three Wednesday winners in two weeks for Yesberg

Three Wednesday winners in two weeks for Yesberg

By Dave Di Somma ·

Trent Yesberg is enjoying his midweek trips to Addington.

Last night his stable harness racing runners had a win (Foreman Fox), a second (Beautiful Crazy) and a third (Always A Diva) from three starters after claiming a winning double with Beautiful Crazy and Major Performer the previous week.

That’s three winners in eight days – lower-graded Wednesday racing is clearly suiting his team.

“It keeps horses in my stable – really it’s as simple as that,” says Yesberg.

“The ones I’ve raced over the last few weeks on a Wednesday wouldn’t have been competitive on a Friday night and maybe not be suited to the grass on a Sunday so it gives them an avenue to race and be competitive,” says Yesberg.

“It’s really been a big plus for racing and needs to be a permanent fixture.”

Last night’s success came with Foreman Fox who broke maidens at his ninth start in the Betavet Mobile Pace. Driver Gavin Smith gave the Always B Miki five-year-old the perfect trip in the trail before angling out at the home turn to win by nearly four lengths.

FOREMAN FOX REPLAY

Hot favourite Ben From Accounts was second after his chances were virtually extinguished with interference at the 800 metre mark.

“He’s got stamina rather than high speed,” says Yesberg of Foreman Fox, “he got a lovely run and finished off great.”

Foreman Fox’s stablemate Always A Diva ran on solidly into third.

In Race 5, The Book Your Xmas Function at Addington Mobile Pace, Beautiful Crazy was second to Hungry Bronnie, one of two winners on the night for driver Sam Thornley. His other came with Don’t Tell Jenny.

Beautiful Crazy trailed Hungry Bronnie for the entire journey and got to within half a neck of the winner on the line.

She’ll return to Addington next Wednesday while Foreman Fox will have a well-deserved break.

Foreman Fox is named after the Yesberg’s three-year-old son (Fox) and he is about to joined on the racetrack by Lather Up gelding Full Monty (named after his two-year-old brother Monty). He’s expected to debut next week.

Having two pre-schoolers in the mix means life is full on for Trent and wife Sarah.

“It’s a very busy life having kids that young and trying to run a stable – there are trials today (Thursday), races tomorrow night and I have four gallopers racing on Sunday,” says Yesberg.

“But it’s rewarding when you get weeks like the last couple of weeks.”
