Sweet Molly headlines Charlottetown feature

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Sweet Molly will look to continue her strong harness racing form in the Thursday evening feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval has a 15-dash presentation starting at 6 P.M., with the $4,750 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 pace lining up in race 14.

Sweet Molly is the 5-2 morning line favourite from post 5 with Ken Murphy in the seat for trainer Jennifer Doyle. The five-year-old daughter of Sweet Lou was a hard fought second in her latest.

My Happy Place leaves from post 6 as the 3-1 second choice with Gilles Barrieau driving for trainer Ron Matheson. The five-year-old daughter of Shadow Play was third her last start while race timed in 1:54.4.

Lady Devine will guard the rail for driver David Dowling and trainer Doyle as the five-year-old daughter of Heston Blue Chip has four wins this season.

The field also includes JM Sportsfan (To be driven Steven Shepherd), Starship Beauty (Paul Langille) and Saulsbrook Pika (Corey MacPherson).

The Post Time picks take Sweet Molly on top.

“Sweet Molly has been slugging it out with the best mares in Atlantic Canada and has not looked out of place. She dipped to this level last week and almost went gate-to-wire on top but lost by head at the finish. She moves out a few spots on the gate but her form has been excellent, so I’m betting she goes all the way tonight.”

The $4,450 Top Trot takes to the track in race 13 with West River Jet selected as the top choice from post 6. Kenny Arsenault trains and drives the Atlantic Champion for owner Haley MacDonald of Charlottetown. His mains rivals are Desert Hayz (Murphy) from post 8 and Oceanview Nikki (Mike McGuigan) with post 5.

Race 5 is the CMP We Engineer Food Safety Pace with Mattnificent Rose (Murphy) favoured at 5-2 from post 6 for trainer Joe Baxter.
