Freemans Legacy chases fourth win in five starts

SUMMERSIDE, PE – With three wins from his last four starts, Freemans Legacy will look to add another chapter to his successful season Tuesday evening at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Prince County oval has a 13-dash presentation beginning at 6 P.M., with the $6,600 featured pace taking to the track in race 12.
Freemans Legacy leaves from post 5 with trainer-driver Jaycob Sweet for owner Mackenzie Arsenault of Alberton. The five-year-old son of Pang Shui has eight victories and $29,596 earned from 21 starts this season, including a 1:55.1 victory in last Tuesday’s top class at the Prince County oval.
The gelding rallied from fifth to defeat Doc Awesome by a length in that outing. His only defeat in his last four appearances came when he fell a neck short of Air Force Hanover on Oct. 5.
Doc Awesome is the 5-2 morning line favourite from post 3 with Corey MacPherson picking up the driving assignment for trainer Darla MacEachern. MacEachern shares ownership of the six-year-old All Bets Off gelding with Allen Gaudet and Mike Cameron of Summerside. A four-time winner this season, Doc Awesome will look to turn the tables after finishing second to Freemans Legacy last week.
Fast Louie has post 2 at 7-2 for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Mike Ramsay. Owned by Max Webster Stable of Inverness, N.S., and Ryan McLaughlin of Cornwall, the Sweet Lou gelding was third in the $20,000 P.E.I. free-for-all consolation on Premier’s Cup night in Charlottetown, pacing his mile in 1:53.1.
The Post Time Picks place Freemans Legacy on top.
“Freemans Legacy has been razor sharp with three wins and a neck loss from his last four starts. He showed last week he can get the job done from off the pace, and Sweet knows exactly what he has to work with. From the outside of this compact field, we’re betting he finds another winning trip.”
Completing the field are rail starter Braxtons Boy (To be driven by Brady Sweet) for trainer Rick Armstrong and Brookdale Johnny (Paul Langille) from post 4 for trainer Phil Sizer.
Howmac Exclusive headlines the race 13 finale from post 4 with MacPherson aboard for trainer and co-owner Les Waite and co-owners Leith Waite and Jim Gorman. The five-year-old Source Of Pride gelding returns after winning his $12,000 P.E.I. Colt Stakes graduate Grassroots final in 1:54.4 on Premier’s Cup night in Charlottetown. Melody Maker (Murphy) and Bettim Alive (Sweet) are also selected as top contenders.
