Swayzee’s perfect lead up to NZ Cup with Menangle win
Swayzee’s perfect lead up to NZ Cup with Menangle win
Mercurial pacer Swayzee ((Rock n Roll Heaven)) completed his final preparation for the New Zealand Trotting Cup with an effortless all the way harness racing win in the Battle of Beersheba Free For All at Menangle on Saturday evening.

Swayzee who won the race last year was a prohibitive odds on favourite and given his overall class it was expected that the gelding would be too strong.
Held back early by driver Cameron Hart to settle, it didn’t take long for him to work around the field after a few hundred metres to eventually take up the running over the early leader Royal Cruiser.
SWAYZEE 31 OCT REPLAY
The field raced in single file with Captain Bellarsario following Royal Cruiser. However Swayzee always had a clear advantage over his rivals for most of the trip and they found the task of chasing Swayzee beyond them.
Hart gave Swayzee full rein as they straightened and he cleared away to record a strong win over Saint Crusader while Its Confidential who struck a bit of trouble rattled home for an eye catching third.
Swayzee run 1.52.3 for the 2300 metre trip and he looked particularly sharp running his last two quarters in 27.6 and 27.9 seconds.
Swayzee will be trying to win a third New Zealand Trotting Cup which is worth NZ$800,000 to be run on Tuesday 10 November where he will meet the likes of Leap To Fame and Marketplace. In the past he’s been written off on a number of occasions but he seems to be striking form at the right time and can’t be ignored.
