Skyway Freakshow unstoppable with 16th seasonal win

Bangor, Maine … Skyway Freakshow (Freaky Feet Pete) continued to flaunt an apparent infinite limit to her seasonal prodigiousness, effortlessly waltzing to the 16th win of her 2026 harness racing campaign during a breezy, late-season appearance at Bangor Raceway on Wednesday (October 28).

Breaking conservatively from the gate, driver McGwire Sowers was content to ping the pylons with his win-loving lass, while Polyester (Aaron Hall) and Mrs Foxy Roxy (Kevin Switzer, Jr) duked it out through a torrid :28 opening quarter.

With early supremacy eventually established by Polyester, Skyway Freakshow then fired a first-over salvo off the 3/8th’s bend. Grinding her way through dogged pursuit, she confidently gained the lead by the 7/8th-mile-marker before confidently striding to an in-hand, four-length margin at the wire, timed in a capably comfortable 1:58.3.

SKYWAY FREAKSHOW REPLAY

Wednesday’s epic elevated Skyway Freakshow into a fifth place tie for winningest horse in North America while cementing her current status as the 2nd winningest mare on the continent this season.

The Iron-sided, four-year-old daughter of Freaky Feet Pete, who is co-owned by Sowers along with his wife Autym (who handles the conditioning duties), elevated her seasonal bankroll to $59,444 with the victory while boosting her imposing on-the-board ratio to 31 out of 44 starts.

The win was one of two on the program for the Sowers consortium who also scored with a newcomer to their roster, Charly Blue (2:03.3, $18.80), who made his first state-of-Maine start a winning one after invading in from owner Robin Mangiardi’s Saratoga Raceway based stable.

Autumn harness racing at Bangor Raceway will continue on a three-day per week schedule through November 7th with post times on Wednesday set for 2:30 pm while the Saturday and Sunday matinees will continue to step to the gate at 11:45 am.
