Scene A Magician takes first victory of 2023

Scene A Magician (Daylon Magician), who recently received The Raceway at the Western Fair District’s 2022 Preferred Trotter of the Year Award, won the Preferred Trot for the first time this harness racing season at the track on Tuesday (Feb. 28).

Garrett Rooney made the call for early speed and sent the gelding to the front. Scene A Magician sprinted to a three-length advantage as he completed the first panel in :28.2. A significant breather made the half time :59.3, but he had to stretch his legs as Run Like Hill (Colin Kelly) put him to the test first-over.

Scene A Magician put away Run Like Hill (Colin Kelly) as they entered the stretch and allowed no inroads for pocket-sitter Andy Over (Ed Hensley), winning by a length-and-half in 1:58.2.

Andy Over finished second. O Narutac Perfetto (Scott Coulter) came on late for show.

SCENE A MAGICIAN REPLAY

Scene A Magician, a nine-year-old, has tallied 29 wins in 133 career starts. The Tuesday victory moved his career earnings past $350,000 to $352,931. Jennifer Pinkerton has trained the gelding since his debut and has owned him since 2018.

The Raceway at the Western Fair District’s best female pacers will take the spotlight when the oval is in action next on Wednesday, Mar. 1. The card will kick off at 5:50 p.m. EST.
