By Harnesslink ·

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The rivalry score was finally settled in the Saturday night harness racing  feature event at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Adkins Hanover laid down devastating fractions to win the $2,400 contest over Mr Irresistible, who won the first two preferred events of the season before falling victim to Adkins Hanover last week then again this week to settle the rivalry at two wins each. Corey MacPherson sent Adkins Hanover to the front from post 7 to cut quarters of 27.3, 55.3 and 1:25.1 before fighting off Mr Irresistible (Jason Hughes) down the stretch for a three-quarter-lengths decision in 1:55.3 with Instant Shadow (Gilles Barrieau) finishing third.

Trevor Hicken trains Adkins Hanover for owner Perry Burke of Quebec.

Holy Molie Maggie rallied from the back of the pack to win the $1,550 trot event in 2:02.2 with Gary Chappell in the bike for co-owner and trainer Jeff Holmes of Orwell and co-owner Trevor MacDonald of Vernon Bridge. Neal (Brian Andrew) was second with Zip The Lip (Brian MacPhee) finishing third.

Marc Campbell had a pair of wins from his own stable including a 1:57.2 win with promising three-year-old Maritime stakes prospect Island Energetic in the second fastest mile of the night. Campbell's other training win was with Johnny Moe in 1:59.3 while he also hit the winner's circle in the bike behind Earl Watts trainee Howmacs Dragonator.
