Race Of The Week 3rd September 2026

The race of the week this week is Sans Repos (Art Major) who produced an impressive finishing burst to make it back-to-back victories with a commanding performance at Ashburton on Sunday.

The six-year-old settled in the second half of the field for driver Olivia Thornley before being unleashed approaching the 500m in The Wylie Family Pace over 2400m.

Thornley quickly had Sans Repos moving into contention and, once he balanced up in the straight, the result was never really in doubt. He powered clear of his rivals to score by two-and-a-quarter lengths, backing up his victory at Rangiora the previous week.

The win was the fifth of Sans Repos’ career and continued a special association between Thornley and trainer Danni Alfeld.
