By Dave Little ·

Powertrain (Shadow Play) bounced back from last week’s seventh-place finish to capture the $32,000 Preferred-2 Pace on Saturday (Feb. 17) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

The harness racing gelding was quickest away and had tempo control through :27.1, :55.2, and 1:23 panels. Louis-Philippe Roy instructed him to go as they entered the stretch, and Powertrain led his rivals home. Poseidon Seelster (Tyler Moore) kicked in late but had to settle for the place cheque as Powertrain scored by a length under wraps in 1:51.1. Rockabilly Rebel N (Doug McNair) was third.

POWERTRAIN REPLAY

Powertrain is now two-for-four on the season, stepping up to the Preferred level after his convincing win in a conditioned event two back. Nick Gallucci trains the Millar Farms homebred, a six-year-old with 11 wins and $354,625 in earnings from 43 starts.

Trainer Richard Moreau picked up four victories on the night. He won with Style For A Mile (Captaintreacherous, McNair 1:52.2),  Cabot Beach (Captaintreacherous, James MacDonald, 1:52.1), Seriously Hanover (Western Ideal, MacDonald, 1:53), and Mr Ibiza N (Sunshine Beach, McNair, 1:52.2).

Harness competition continues at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday, Feb. 19 as a  10-race card begins at 7:10 p.m. EST.
