One Wicked Man headlines P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series

One Wicked Man Headlines P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series

By Nicholas Oakes ·

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series, presented by Red Shores, will take centre stage Saturday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

One Wicked Man

The capital oval has a 14-dash presentation starting at the new Saturday post time of 5 P.M. that will be carried through every Saturday in July and August at both Red Shores Properties. The $8,500 P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series Gold division lines up in race 11 as the top event on the harness racing program.

One Wicked Man has been installed as the morning line favourite from post 5 with Kenny Arsenault driving and training the four-year-old son of McWicked for owner James Perrot of Stratford. The hard-hitting pacer has been knocking heads in the top ranks and will look to take control of the Graduate Series event in this opening leg.

Merigo Magic is another major player from post 6 with Adam Merner handling the training and driving duties. The son of Tobago Cays was a winner in 1:54.4 already this season. Phil My Beer has post 2 with Marc Campbell in the seat for trainer Landon Campbell while Malignity leaves from post 7 with Corey MacPherson driving for trainer Paul Langille.

The Preferred 1 pace takes to the track in race 13 for a $7,000 purse with Get Wings the top choice from post 4 for driver Marc Campbell, trainer Vaughan Doyle and owners Gary Ford of Stratford and Janet Kinney of Wheatley River. The four-year-old son of Bettors Wish has been sharp since arriving on the Eastern Seaboard and will look for his third straight victory.

Bee Two Bee gets post 7 as the second choice with Jason Hughes driving for trainer Ashley Gamester as the Sunshine Beach stallion continues to be a major threat every time he lines up. Arbitrage Hanover has post 6 with Ken Murphy in the bike for trainer Clifford Murphy after charging down the stretch to finish second last week to Ammo (who is absent this week), while Nuttin But Finesse leaves from post 5 for driver Mike Downey and trainer Ellen Stevenson.

The Post Time Picks like Arbitrage Hanover to win.

“Have a closer peek at the line from last week because Arbitrage Hanover flew home in 27.1 to nab the deuce. He’s back in the same spot this week and if Murphy has him close at the top of the lane, they could get all the marbles.”

Race 5 is the $3,900 Provincial Credit Union pace with Bentley the morning line favourite from post 3. Corey MacPherson drives the Pang Shui four-year-old for trainer John Clarey and owner Michael Clarey of Montague. JK Last Chance has post 7 for trainer-driver Arsenault while Dusty Lane Levi is another top choice from post 5 with Marc Campbell in the bike for trainer Earl Watts.
