Nymbal’s dazzling finish to make it two on end
New Zealand bred Nymbal (Lazarus) showed that his Redcliffe Derby win last week was no fluke when he produced a devastating sprint to take out the Burwood Stud three year old pace at Albion Park on Saturday night.

Only a recent addition to the stables of Kerry Ann and Robert Morris, Nymbal looked every inch a star with his Australian debut last week in the Redcliffe Derby and the only question was whether he would handle the step up in class with the likes of Yottie and Maxo Mighty engaged.
Drawn the pole, Nymbal held the early lead but driver Robert Morris wisely took the trail when favourite Yottie moved up to take up the running. Maxo Mighty broke up after the mobile was dispatched effectively putting himself out of the race.
NYMBAL 27 JUN REPLAY
Yottie who was a gallant third to Hollywood Strip in the New South Wales Derby and a close second in the Gold Chalice Final at Bathurst was expected to make amends and he looked the testing material in the lead although Nymbal was travelling well with a trail.
Yottie had the field off the bit as they turned the corner but Nymbal was right on his back and peeled off on straightening. Although Yottie fought on well he had no answer to Nymbal’s finishing burst and there was just two metres separating the two at the finish.
Showmethetanlines who recently joined Grant Dixon’s stable and had raced back on the rails finished on well for third ahead of Schooners who also came from back in the field.
Nymbal and Yottie are bound to clash in next weeks Burwood Stud South East Derby and then in all probability in the Group 1 Queensland Pacers Derby where they are scheduled to clash with Hollywood Strip as well as the Emma Stewart trained Brooklyn Dan, Cardigan Dan and Dynamitedan.
