Nuttin But Finesse the one to beat
SUMMERSIDE, PE – Former Gold Cup and Saucer consolation winner Nuttin But Finesse (Art Major) returns to Prince County for the Monday afternoon harness racing feature on a special Labour Day card at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The holiday program has 15 dashes scheduled for a 12:30 P.M. opening post time with the $5,250 top class lining up in race 14.
Nuttin But Finesse is the 5-2 morning line favourite from post 4 with Mike Downey in the seat for trainer Ellen Stevenson and owner Dr. Mitchell Downey of Saint John, N.B. The eight-year-old son of Art Major was fourth in his Gold Cup and Saucer Trial before finishing sixth in the $30,000 James Roach MacGregor Gold Cup and Saucer Consolation. The 41-time winner was victorious in the MacGregor Memorial in 2025.
He will face Starship Glyde from post 5 with Paul Langille driving for trainer Earl Watts and owner Windemere Farms of Springvale. The Control The Moment gelding is riding a two-race win streak after victories of 1:51.4 and 1:53.1 at Red Shores Charlottetown.
Sauble Attack has rail control with Ken Murphy driving for trainer and co-owner Paul Biggar of Tyne Valley and Donald Callbeck of Summerside. Doc Awesome leaves from post 3 for driver David Dowling and owners Darla MacEachern, who also trains, alongside Allen Gaudet and Mike Cameron of Summerside after winning the top class in 1:55.1 last week. Middleton Terror (To be driven by Jason Hughes) has post 2 from the Luke Burle barn for owners Frank Balcom and Kingsley Walsh.
The Classifiers’ Choices have Nuttin But Finesse on top at 5-2 followed by Starship Glyde at 3-1 and Sauble Attack at 7-2.
The Backstretch Beat sides with Nuttin But Finesse.
“Nuttin But Finesse spent August battling some of the best pacers on the Eastern Seaboard and now lands in a spot where he should be able to control his own destiny. Starship Glyde is razor sharp, but we think the class relief makes Nuttin But Finesse the one to beat.”
Race 5 is the Garth Schurman Memorial with Tymal Miami (Corey MacPherson) the favourite with post 4 for trainer Kevin MacLean.
Race 6 has First Glance (Murphy) the top choice with post 2 for trainer Chris Davies.
The Keith Campbell Memorial in race 7 will see Miss Countour (Mike Downey) from the Stevenson barn as the top selection from post 5.
