New APG online platform launches with their Winter Mix Sale

New APG Online Platform Launches with their Winter Mix Sale

By APG ·

Australian Pacing Gold has opened entries for its 2026 Winter Mix Sale, marking the official launch of a completely new and improved online sale platform developed for the standardbred industry.

The launch represents an exciting step forward for APG and follows nine months of development work in conjunction with Ardex Technologies.

Designed to make buying and selling through APG simpler, faster and more convenient, the new platform brings sale entries, catalogues, bidder registration and online bidding together in one central location.

The Winter Mix Sale will be the first auction conducted through the new system, with entries open to weanlings, yearlings, racehorses, broodmares and stallions.

Entries close on Friday, July 31.

One account for every APG sale

A major improvement delivered by the new platform is the introduction of a single APG account.

Rather than switching between different websites or accounts for entering horses, registering to bid, viewing catalogues and participating in online auctions, buyers and vendors will now be able to manage everything from one place.

Users will be able to customise their notification settings for both email and email and SMS, giving them greater control over which sale updates they receive and how they receive them.

Information will also be saved between sales, making it easier for customers to participate in future APG auctions. Vendor and buyer details can be reused, while previously approved bidding limits will remain attached to an account. Once a buyer has been approved to bid up to a particular amount, they will not need to repeat the full registration and approval process for every sale.

The platform also gives users access to records of their current and previous sale entries, along with a list of horses they have purchased through APG.

New tools for buyers and vendors

In addition to the new account features, the new platform includes a range of new tools designed to improve the auction experience for both sides of the sale.

Buyers can create a favourites list within each catalogue, allowing them to keep track of the horses they are most interested in and receive specific notifications relating to those lots.

Another notable feature is a new “traffic light” system that gives buyers a clearer indication of whether a lot is approaching its reserve.

The indicator will appear in both the catalogue view and on each individual lot page. Lots that are not yet close to their reserve will display a red indicator, while lots approaching their reserve will display a yellow or orange indicator. Once a lot has reached its reserve and is officially on the market, the indicator will change to green.

This additional visibility will help buyers better understand the status of each lot and make more informed decisions throughout the bidding process.

For vendors, the entry process has been expanded to allow photos, videos, veterinary reports and other supporting documents to be uploaded directly through the platform.

They will also be able to set reserve prices during the entry process as well as go back and update these reserves themselves in the lead up to the sale. This is designed to give vendors more direct control over their lots as well as streamlining the process for updates.

All users must create a new account

As this is a completely new platform, all APG vendors and buyers will need to create a new account before entering a horse or registering to bid.

The new account will supersede any accounts previously used for APG online sales, bidder registration or sale entries.

Once established, it will be the only APG account customers need to use going forward.

APG has prepared a step-by-step guide to help users create their new account and become familiar with the platform.

Winter Mix Sale offers vendors a national audience

APG’s Winter Mix Sale provides vendors with an accessible and cost-effective way to offer horses to the market.

Compared with a traditional live auction, online sales provide lower entry fees and commissions, remove the need to transport horses to a sale venue and allow vendors to market their horses without the additional costs associated with sale-day preparation.

The online format also provides exposure to buyers throughout Australia and overseas, allowing interested parties to view the catalogue and participate regardless of their location.

Following APG’s recent announcement, the launch of the new platform is an important part of the organisation’s future direction. It provides APG with the opportunity to continue connecting buyers and vendors across the standardbred industry while delivering a modern, flexible and user-friendly sales experience.

The Winter Mix Sale is open to weanlings, yearlings, racehorses, broodmares and stallions, with entries closing on Friday, July 31.
