WRENN LEADS RACE TO 100

Driver Ronnie Wrenn Jr is poised to become the first driver at The Meadows to reach 100 local wins this season.  He will enter Wednesday’s action with 98.  Aaron Merriman (91), Dave Palone (90), Justin Irvine (54) and Jeremy Indof (44) complete the top five in wins.  Palone is tops in Universal Driver Rating, at .410.  Among trainers, Ron Burke (55) has surpassed Brandon Presto (52) to lead the way in wins.  Dirk Simpson (41), Brady Jenson (28) and Justin Pirillo (27) round out the top five.

WEDNESDAY FEATURE

The feature race on Wednesday will be the second leg of the Watson & Margaret Provost Memorial Trotting Series. This will be the final chance for horses to earn points toward next week’s final.  Last week’s winner, Cynic, was not entered this week, leaving a field of 7 to face the starter.  Wendalyn Hanover, a Greenshoe filly making her season debut, has been installed as the 8-5 morning line favorite.  The Vernon Beachy-trainee went 1-for-7 last season, banking just under $40,000 with a mark of 1:55.3 set in the Arden Downs Stake at The Meadows in July.  She qualified on March 31, missing the first leg of the series.  The Provost Trot is Race #1 on Wednesday’s 13-race card.  Post time is 12:45pm.

APRIL 29, MAY 2 POST TIME CHANGES

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows announces a post time change for Wednesday, April 29.  That card has been changed to an evening program, with a 5:10pm first post. The Meadows also announces that its post time for Kentucky Derby Day, Saturday, May 2, will be 10:30am.  The May 2 card will feature sophomore colt pacers in the first Pennsylvania Sire Stake and Pennsylvania Stallion Series races of the season.

THREE DAYS OF RACING THIS WEEK

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows is currently in its spring 3-day-per-week schedule, with racing on Wednesday through Friday afternoons at 12:45pm.  This schedule will hold through Friday, April 24.
