Leap To Fame thrills his fans yet again

Leap To Fame thrills his fans yet again

By Harnesslink ·

The incomparable Leap To Fame (Bettors Delight) continued his relentless march for a third Inter Dominion with another effortless harness racing performance in the third heat of the second round of the Inter Dominion Pacing Championships at Albion Park on Saturday evening.

It was typical Leap To Fame. He wasn’t rushed out of the gate early on for trainer driver Grant Dixon.

Triedtotellya showed brilliant early speed to easily head off the field. Will Rixon on Max Delight decided to take off ahead of Leap To Fame and he worked his way to the lead before giving it up to Leap To Way when he came with his customary charge to take up the running.

And from then on Leap To Fame was in cruise control in front. His arch rival The Janitor from the second row was back towards the back end of the field and driver Pete McMullen had little choice but to make his run going into the back straight on the final occasion.

But Leap To Fame went into overdrive on the final bend as it was left to the gallant veteran Max Delight to try and make a race of it. Triedtotellya hund on for third placing in a more improved effort than last week. The Janitor couldn’t sustain his run but when Leap To Fame ran his last two quarters in 26.7 and 26.4 seconds it would have been too much a task for him to make up much ground and he finished sixth.

Full marks to Will Rixon who drove the race of his life to serve it up to Leap To Fame but as has been the case in the past, when the pressure is on Larry delivers.

Grant Dixon stated after the event:

It was a little bit sharper than last week so hopefully he’s on track for next week. He went right through to the line and hopefully it’s a good sign for next week with the extra distance.

I think anything beyond 2200 metres is really in his scope. So I’m happy it’s a bit more distance but its going to be a super hard race.

Trista and I will have a good talk tomorrow and see how he is in himself and whether or not he has one or two fast work outs for the week. And we’ll check out how he’s feeling.

There’s certainly a sense of anticipation about Leap To Fame as to whether he can win his Third Inter Dominion but standing in his way is Australia’s leading race mare Captains Mistress. The barrier draw and tactics will be crucial.

But in addition to Captains Mistress trainer Jason Grimson has two worthy second stringers Minos and Dangerous and they could cause an upset if they receive favourable draws.
