The powerful McCarthy stable has confirmed that talented young harness racing driver Jack Callaghan will take the reins behind Kingman (Always B Miki) in the 2026 Miracle Mile at Menangle.

While Callaghan is yet to capture the famous Group 1 feature, the lightweight and highly respected Menangle reinsman has built a strong record in the race and is widely regarded as one of the most capable big-race drivers in the country.
Callaghan has already come close to Miracle Mile glory on more than one occasion. His best result came in 2023, when he finished second behind Catch A Wave driving the popular Spirit Of St Louis, producing a brave performance that had the crowd on their feet.
He also finished runner-up in the 2022 Miracle Mile, again behind King Of Swing, partnering Spirit Of St Louis in another outstanding effort.
In recent months, Callaghan has continued to build his reputation both in Australia and internationally. He enjoyed success driving winners at the famous Meadowlands track in the United States, and also captured one of Australia’s major features when he won the Group 1 Golden Nugget in Perth, further highlighting his ability on the big stage.
Those performances have cemented Callaghan as a driver who thrives in major races, and his experience around Tabcorp Park Menangle will be a valuable asset as he teams up with Kingman in one of harness racing’s most prestigious events.
Kingman, trained by the McCarthy stable, has been racing in strong form and is expected to be a major contender when the field lines up for the rich sprint championship.
For Callaghan, the opportunity represents another chance to chase the elusive Miracle Mile trophy — and with a horse of Kingman’s quality beneath him, the talented reinsman may be closer than ever to achieving that dream.
“I am excited and and thankful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get out there,” Callaghan said.
The 2026 Miracle Mile promises to once again deliver high-speed drama at Menangle, and the partnership of Jack Callaghan and Kingman will be one to watch when the starter calls them into line.
