Huge double on Hambo Day for Libfeld & Katz
Standardbred owners from around the world dream of a victory on Hambletonian Day at the Meadowlands, the most prestigious program of harness racing held the first weekend in August every year.
Long time partners Al Libfeld and Marvin Katz of Pickering and Toronto, Ontario, respectively, had that dream fulfilled last Saturday when their undefeated two-year-old filly Ariana G captured the Doherty Stake to give her four victories to date in her young career.
However, that wasn’t the end of the celebrating in the winner’s circle for them. A few races later Ariana G’s full sister, All The Time, impressively captured the $500,000 Hambletonian Oaks, the filly companion race to the $1 million Hambletonian.
Not only do Libfeld and Katz own these talented distaffers, they also are their breeders. They operate a boutique breeding operation with some of the most well bred broodmares in the sport in residence.
The operation sells yearlings annually and this year’s group includes a full brother to Ariana G and All The Time called Fleet Admiral. He’ll be part of the 18 colts and fillies consigned to the Lexington Select Sale being sold by Kentuckiana Farms, Agent.
The Libfeld/Katz partnership has a very active website to promote their yearlings and racehorses. The site is updated regularly and features race videos of the graduates of their breeding operation. It may be viewed here.
