Ashburton selections 30th August 2026
Harness analyst best tips:
Best Bet: R5 Unico Realta
Best Value: R6 Song Of Seas
Race 1
Olympian (10)
Raced better than the result suggests last time and has trialled well since. Looks one of the stronger winning chances.
Ultimatum (2)
Worked hard to find the front last start before being run down. Better suited here and has to be included.
Liberty Girl (8)
Much better when runner-up at Oamaru after leading. Racing well enough now to be right in the finish.
Race 2
Moeraki (3)
Unraced trotter from a strong stable and comes in off a trial second. Looks capable of winning on debut.
Evangalist (9)
Manners have been the problem since switching to the trotting gait. Has ability but needs to get everything right.
Speakeasy (5)
Has been racing consistently without breaking through. This isn’t overly strong and she looks a solid top-three chance.
Race 3
Lauralee (7)
Debut runner who has shown enough at the trials to warrant respect. Wide draw makes things harder but has upside.
Pickettywitch (6)
Led and fought on well at Rangiora last start. Racing consistently and looks one of the main chances again.
Rosetta Road (3)
Continues to knock on the door and gets a very favourable draw. Should get every opportunity to break through.
Race 4
Time For Victory (9)
Continues to race well and another win doesn’t look far away. Unruly position isn’t ideal but still a major chance.
Val Thorens (6)
Could have gone very close with better luck last week. Manners have improved and looks particularly well placed here.
Buffy Northstains (4)
Solid third at Winton last start and has performed well at Ashburton before. Definite place chance in an even race.
Race 5
Unico Realta (11)
Finished off ok last week and appears to be building towards another win. Second row but looks a strong chance.
Troubleshooter (13)
Didn’t get much luck at Rangiora and has won over this course and distance before. Worth including at longer odds.
Remission (2)
Returns after a trial and gets a very useful inside draw. Capable of featuring if close to her best.
Race 6
Song Of Seas (7)
Made it three wins from eight with an impressive Addington victory. Racing superbly and looks very hard to beat again.
Indulge Me (6)
Arrives chasing a hat-trick after two strong Winton victories. Clearly has the ability to make this a real contest.
Queen Lizzy (5)
Solid in stronger company at Addington and should improve from that outing. Drawn well enough to get into the finish.
Race 7
Queen Tyron (10)
Returns after a lengthy break and has trialled ahead of this. Second row isn’t ideal but expect her to be running on.
Molly Maeve Estelle (7)
Had more to offer at Oamaru and her previous Ashburton effort was encouraging. Can improve sharply with the right run.
Moonlite CC (1)
Forget the latest effort from a hopeless draw. Gets the complete opposite today and can make full use of the inside.
Race 8
River (3)
Finished last campaign with a win and has been prepared with trials for this return. Excellent fresh record and drawn ideally.
Ocean Of Tears (9)
Won here two starts ago before another solid effort at Oamaru. Wide draw hurts but current form demands respect.
Bettor Than Lizzy (1)
Finished strongly at Rangiora and now lands the perfect inside draw. Looks capable of getting right into the finish.
Race 9
Miles Away (6)
Form has been mixed lately but he has performed well at Ashburton. Capable of figuring prominently if producing his best.
Millie Let Loose (3)
Continues to race honestly and gets another suitable assignment. Drawn to be handy and looks a strong top-three chance.
Franco Light (9)
Showed plenty of fight to win fresh and should have improvement to come. Unruly position the concern but clearly capable.
Race 10
Brookies Player (6)
Another brave performance last week and he loves the sprint distance. Draw isn’t perfect but looks an excellent value chance.
Zoom X (1)
Had little room from this draw last start and boasts an excellent course-and-distance record. Big chance with clear running.
Suspicious Captain (7)
Won strongly at Oamaru before having little luck on Friday. Draw is tricky but his current form makes him very dangerous.
