Glitter Aint Gold prevails again
Glitter Aint Gold (Bling It On) followed up his win last week with yet another powerful display when he stormed home to take out the Alf Phillis Free For All at Menangle on Saturday evening.

Although he was racing in similar company to his last start win Glitter Aint Gold was not highly fancied due to his wide draw. Sao Paolo Simba who has been racing in ominous form winning his previous four starts at Menangle was well backed into a firm favourite.
He had to work a bit hard early to head off Huta but once in front driver Michael Stanley tried to steady the field. Huta had a gun run behind the leader. Jett Turnbull on Glitter Aint Gold eased him back and he only had two others behind him at some stage as the field spread out.

Veteran pacer Max Delight once again had to race outside the leader. The early speed took its toll on Sao Paolo Simba as he couldn’t find a great deal after running his third quarter in 27.3 seconds. In fact Max Delight was in front on straightening but he was a sitting shot for those behind him.
Louie Lou I who had a good trail swooped on the leaders but he couldn’t hold off Glitter Aint Gold who in the space of a few metres was able to snatch a narrow but convincing win. Better Eclipse who was also well back finished strongly to come in a close third.

Glitter Aint Gold seems to thrive on racing and the five year old gelding has raced 49 times for 14 wins and 15 placings.
After the race Jett Turnbull commented on his win.
He’s always been one of my favourites. He’s just such a consistent horse. We all love him out of home. He obviously went back at the start and then Max Delight got caught out there alone. And we went to creep up onto his back. And then ended up with two in front of us. At that stage it didn’t bother us when the quick tempo kept speeding up. The only thing that was worrying me was that we were a bit far back. But the horse’s electric speed was just too good.
We’re not looking too much forward as he’s just a touch below all of those really good ones having to follow them everywhere. While they’re not all here at the moment we’re making the most of Menangle. He’s everything to all of us. He’s just like a little pet around the place. He’s just lovely to have around.
The win completed a double for Jett Turnbull who had won the opening event with his consistent pacer Jorge Street (Captaintreacherous) who just held on to beat favourite Smoken Ace.
