WatchandWager reports record-breaking week

By Harnesslink ·

The board of Webis, the Group specializing in pool wagering and the operators of Cal Expo, the Californian harness racing track, is pleased to announce that its Advanced Deposit Wagering (ADW) business, WatchandWager.com LLC ("WatchandWager") had a record-breaking trading week in all aspects of its business during last week's Kentucky Derby week. WatchandWager achieved significant growth in handle (turnover) and player numbers across all business centers that is operates.

In addition to the top-line handle rise, WatchandWager experienced significant increases in traffic to the company's website, www.watchandwager.com, and its mobile platform compared to the same week in 2015. WatchandWager saw an 80% increase in website/mobile handle during the week, and there was over 200% increase in the volume of deposits thanks to highly targeted promotions. Moreover, despite the increased traffic, the overall wagering platform proved operationally stable while other competitors appeared to experience technical issues on Derby Day.

WatchandWager's business-to-consumer success was complimented by robust trading in the company's business-to-business high-volume trading unit. The company saw significant volume trading into US markets and major international pari-mutuel markets, on the back of its wide range of content and licenses. This high-volume trading directly helps horsemen and track operators, both in the US and international markets.

According to WatchandWager President Ed Comins, the record numbers were the culmination of many improvements made by the company over the past year.

"We are delighted with this strong performance across both sectors of the business," Comins said. "This was our best Kentucky Derby to date, and we look forward to continuing this success in all aspects of the business through the remainder of the Triple Crown season and beyond. Our focus now is on promoting the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico on May 21."

WatchandWager finished Derby weekend with the successful conclusion of the 2015-2016 Cal Expo harness racing season on Sunday, May 8. The overall meeting has been a success and further reflects on WatchandWager's commitment to supporting the US racing industry. Racing at Cal Expo is scheduled to resume in early October, subject to the normal regulatory approval.
