By Harnesslink ·

Evergreen pacer District Attorney (Courage Under Fire) showed a welcome return to form with an inside run to secure a last gasp win in the Ladbrokes Betting Open Pace at Albion Park on Saturday evening.

In a fast run race early noted speedster Tiger Band Wagon showed exceptional pace to take up the running and District Attorney who drew the pole kicked up to take a trail.

Driver Leonard Cain was content to sit behind the pace. Favourite Attachment had a torrid run as he worked forward at the start eventually moving to a one out position and then being forced to run outside the leader.

DISTRICT ATTORNEY 23 MAY REPLAY

Tiger Band Wagon showed plenty of cheek and looked to be holding the field as Tims A Trooper after being mid field appearing to labour on the final bend and not looking likely to catch the leaders.

However District Attorney with the inside run picked up the bit and he finished too strongly to defeat a determined Tiger Band Wagon with Manila Playboy who had been smothered back on the rails running third after being held up.

Trained by Jack Butler, District Attorney has built up a formidable record thanks to some previous top efforts. He’s best remembered back some two years when he was prepared by Jason Grimson and he outsprinted Leap To Fame at Redcliffe.

But he also won a Truer Memorial at Bankstown as well as finishing runner up in a Sunshine Sprint, Len Smith Mile and Kilmore Cup. He’s won just over $348,000 by way of 15 wins from 75 starts. District Attorney has been nominated for the forthcoming Inter Dominion series at Albion Park and whilst he wouldn’t be amongst the main chances, the lesser quality free for alls should be right up his alley. The seven year old is racing in great heart and is a credit to his trainer Jack Butler.
