Captains Mistress in yet another record breaking effort

The nation’s best mare Captains Mistress (Captaintreacherous) gave yet another exceptional harness racing display when she blew away her rivals in the Prydes Racing Cube Pace at Menangle on Saturday evening.

Racing against open class, Captains Mistress wasn’t that quick out of the gate with those on his inside having a serious battle for the lead and then Hi Manameisjeff showing his usual speed charged to the front.

CAPTAINS MISTRESS 23 MAY REPLAY

But then Cameron Hart on Captains Mistress let go on the mare and she just raced past Hi Manameisjeff to take up the running. Captains Mistress ran a comfortable 28.5 and then 28.4 seocnds for the second and third quarters and those watching would have wondered how much she would have had left. But any doubts they may have had were simply dispelled when Hart let her go at the top of the straight and she ran an explosive 25.7 seconds for the final quarter which made it impossible for those behind to catch her.

Hi Manameisjeff tried his heart out while Pinseeker issued his run three wide but they had to be content with the minor placings.

Overall Captains Mistress ran 1.49.1 for the mile and she will now go direct to Brisbane for the $300,000 Group 1 Rising Sun where she may clash with the outstanding New Zealand pair of Marketplace and Jumal as well as brilliant three year old Hollywood Strip and Victorian Fox Dan.

Hart was effusive in his praise of Captains Mistress.

She was great tonight. Jason put her in with the boys today just to give her a bit more of a test and hopefully have something to race. She was super brilliant again and to have a horse like Jeff (Hi Manameisjeff) on his back and keep him at bay was great.

We kept her balanced early I thought there would be a little bit of speed around us. I was able to keep working around them and putting up a 1.49 mile with a 25.7 (final quarter) do it pretty well, it was very pleasing and looking forward to what’s next for her.

The Rising Sun will be her next target really looking forward to that its going to be a great race. With a bit of luck she’ll be right in it for sure. She’s definitely up with the best in the country all the boys I think. If she was able to win the Rising Sun it’d be great to get a spot in the Inter Dominion.
