Colonial stallions stamp their class

Colonial bred stallions are making their presence felt when they are given reasonable stud chances. The results of metropolitan racing around the country last weekend emphasises this.
There were five winners by Australian and New Zealand bred sires across two meetings at Melton. The quintet were I Am The Storm and Insider Trading (both by The Storm Inside), The Last Trip (Poster Boy), Hittheroadjack (by Terror To Love) and the trotter Alrighty (Skyvalley).
The Menangle meeting on Saturday night provided two winners by colonial stallions. They were Glitter Aint Gold (by Bling It On), who took out the Listed Kevin Newman Free-for-all, and the classy three-year-old Nymbal (by Lazarus).
Meanwhile at Albion Park, the trio of Williams (by The Storm Inside), Lilstrepo (by Restrepo) and Golden Ace (by The Gold Ace) all tasted success.
Racing on Tuesday at Albion Park, Menangle and Gloucester Park saw colonial stallions again to the fore.
The three-year-olds Sassaba (by Ultimate Machete) and Stripes (by Tiger Tara) and the two-year-old Oh Its On(by Bling It On) all rung up number one at Albion Park, while Cornelius (by Poster Boy) saluted at Menangle.
No less than six of the nine winners at Gloucester Park were by colonial bred sires. They were Fuego Cruzado (by Ultimate Machete), Beyond Bling (by Bling It On), Fiord (by Follow The Stars), the three-year-olds Lord Vincentius (by Foreclosure) and Tsunami Wave (by Poster Boy) and the two-year-old filly Expressing (by Soho Tribeca).
Colonial bred stallions are also riding high on the various sire premierships this year.
Poster Boy, King Of Swing, For A Reason, Bling It On and Ride High are all ranked in the top 20 on the two-year-old sires’ list and Vincent, Poster Boy, Soho Tribeca, Bling it On, For A Reason and Fly Like An Eagle are all rating highly in the three-year-old premiership.
King Of Swing (1st), Be Happy Mach (5th) and Colt Thirty One (6th) all feature prominently among this season’s first crop sires.
In the trotting section, Skyvalley is ranked sixth on the all aged list and Elite Stride is the clear leader on the three-year-old sires’ table.
