Class climb no problem for Moneyman Hill

Moneyman Hill built on his Aug. 9 Preferred 3 score with another wire-to-wire harness racing victory on Tuesday at Georgian Downs as he stepped up to the Innisfil, Ont. oval’s Preferred 2 Pace.

Jean Rene Plante, taking the lines for the second straight week, replicated his Aug. 9 tactics by directing Moneyman Hill to the front. The son of Somebeachsomewhere got there from the pylon post with little resistance in a :26.4 first quarter over the sloppy track. Plante stole a :56.1 half before accelerating Moneyman Hill again to a 1:23.3 three-quarters to keep the outside flow at bay.

Pretty Handsome (J. Bradley Harris) angled out of the pocket on the final turn, but the leader’s biggest threat came from a fast-closing Bee Two Bee (Scott Coulter). Pretty Handsome came up flat, and Moneyman Hill produced another burst to stave off Bee Two Bee for a 1:52 score.

Bee Two Bee missed by three quarters of a length in second. Pretty Handsome gained nothing in the stretch but finished third, a length and a half behind. The win price was $5.20.

MONEYMAN HILL REPLAY

The victory was Moneyman Hill’s second tally of the season in 14 starts, a week after he notched his first in the Grand River Raceway Preferred 3. The four-year-old gelding has won nine times and has earned $263,019 in 39 career starts. Duane Marfisi trains for Aaron Waxman of Carlisle and Fox Racing Inc. of New York.

Georgian Downs’ next race date will be Saturday, Aug. 21.
