Brodys Scrapper extends Flamboro streak to eight

Brodys Scrapper (Mach Three) bounced back from a pair of Woodbine Mohawk Park defeats to extend his harness racing winning streak at Flamboro Downs to eight at the track on Wednesday (Dec. 27).

The gelding rejected the pylons on the turn and pressed to the front for Travis Cullen, taking over from Silver Sea (Colin Kelly) before the quarter in :28.2. Brodys Scrapper traveled to the half in :58 and stole a couple of lengths as he went to three-quarters in 1:26.4 with a three-length lead. The gelding maintained the advantage around the final turn and sailed home to a two-and-a-quarter-length score in 1:56.2. Midway Island (Austin Sorrie) passed Silver Sea late for second.

BRODYS SCRAPPER REPLAY

It was the 53rd career win for Brodys Scrapper, and it brought his seasonal tally to double digits. He won seven straight races at Flamboro from October to November but finished sixth twice at Woodbine Mohawk Park before his winning return on Wednesday. The 12-year-old has earned $360,261 in his 206-start career. Jodie Cullen trains him for A1stable of Dundas.

P L Oliver (Sportswriter, Colin Kelly, 1:55) and St Lads Beat It (Mach Three, Travis Henry, 1:54.4) took the night’s conditioned co-features.

Flamboro Downs continues racing on Thursday, Dec. 28. The 10-race card begins at 6:35 p.m. EST and will feature a Preferred Pace.
