Robert Shepherd pulled the gelding back to seventh off the gate, where Black Tie Bash remained through :27.3 and :56.1 fractions. He peeled off the pylons third-over as the field came down the backstretch towards three-quarters in 1:25.2. The gelding dashed into open space on the final turn and exploded with trot, blasting past every rival to a two-and-a-half-length victory in 1:55.3. Emma Town Bud (Pierre Bovay) closed for second, followed by The Great Emotion (Pascal Berube).

BLACK TIE BASH REPLAY

Black Tie Bash is now six-for-29 this season. He returned to Rideau Carleton in July and has finished worse than second only once. Isabelle Darveau trains him for Shepherd. The six-year-old has earned $334,322 and has won 34 of 115 lifetime starts.

Guy Gagnon won four races on the card, two of which came behind horses from his barn.

The next card at Rideau Carleton Raceway is scheduled for Sunday, Sep. 29 at 6:30 p.m. EDT. The 10-race card will feature a Preferred-Handicap Pace.
