Birdsong’s class prevails in Gold Tiara Final
Unbeaten filly Birdsong (Huntsville) overcame a number of setbacks when she proved herself in an outstanding harness racing win in the Group 1 $150,000 Alabar Farms Gold Tiara Final at Bathurst on Saturday evening.

In an action packed event Birdsong was awkwardly drawn on the inside of the second row and it took all the skill of driver Robert Morris to extricate the filly off the fence early on although she was mid field. She was checked at the start as well as being checked in the run.
Soho Aster was able to hold the early lead but a scrimmage during the race saw Lexy Belle who was behind the leader break up and a number of runners were inconvenienced. Birdsong was forced to go early and she looked to have it all to do when she raced up wide on the final bend.
BIRDSONG 28 MAR REPLAY
Soho Aster who had the easier run moved clear but Birdsong knuckled down to her task and showing real star qualities drew clear to record an impressive win over Soho Aster by four metres with Lather Me Up who was a clear last on settling down coming from well back for an eye catching third some eleven metres away.
Trained by Robert’s wife Kerry Ann for owner Ben Settree Birdsong is out of the Art Major mare Dizygotic Lass and was bred by Brooklyn Lodge at Aberdeen. The only other of her progeny to make it to the races Lochinvar Leader was a winner but Birdsong gives every impression she will be a real star.
Wallaby Way suffered a gear malfunction and as a result broke up which caused her to tail the field.
