Gilles Barrieau settled the two-year-old pacing filly away third at the start then pulled first out to charge to the lead before the opening quarter. The filly went on to command the $28,200 Gold division and controlled the remainder of the mile for her third win from as many lifetime starts. Big Heart N Soul ($2.50) prevailed by one-and-a-half lengths in 1:56.4 over Starship Daisy (Driven by Marc Campbell), with Isle Impress You (Ken Murphy) completing the triactor.

Barrieau trains the daughter of Big Jim for owner Wayne MacRae of Fall River, N.S.

Four $14,100 Grassroots divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies were also contested during the 13-dash program.

Sheeowtime Speed ($3.60) captured the first division with a 1:56.2 mile for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Earl Watts. The Somewhere Fancy filly is owned by Windemere Farms of Springvale and Matt and David Burke of Stratford.

Howmac Lula ($4.20) used a 28-second closing quarter to win her Grassroots split in 1:57.4 for trainer-driver Barrieau. Wayne MacRae, Howmac Farms Ltd., and Brian Foley share ownership of the daughter of Malicious.

Trainer-driver Paul Langille controlled every station with A Kiss For Lucy ($5.20) before drawing away by four-and-three-quarter lengths in 1:58.3. Nikway Farms of St. David’s, N.L., owns and bred the Cattlewash filly.

Here For The Party ($6) completed the Grassroots action with a half-length score in 1:58.3 for driver Keith Legge and trainer George Rennison. The Sunshine Beach filly is owned by Clarissa Maher, Rennison Racing Inc., and Ian MacDonald.

Hound On The Beach ($5.10) dominated the race 13 Jeff May Memorial finale for Campbell and trainer Charles Gaudreault. The pacer supplied fractions of 27.1, 55.4 and 1:24 before opening up to win by eight-and-a-half lengths in 1:52.4.

Campbell also teamed with trainer Bo Ford to win race 4 with Steady Heart ($2.10) in 1:55.1, giving the Island reinsman three victories on the card and 27 wins through the first seven programs of Old Home Week.

Campbell holds the Old Home Week driving record with 31 victories over 16 cards in 2013. He came close again in 2024 with 28 wins during the 10-program meet. With three cards and 29 programmed drives remaining in 2026, Campbell needs four wins to equal his record and five to establish a new Old Home Week standard.

JK Last Chance ($2.80) won the $4,250 Joe and Wal Hennessey Memorial in 1:55 for driver Jason Ryan, trainer Kenny Arsenault and owner Daniel MacIsaac.

Live racing continues Friday evening at 6 PM at Red Shores Charlottetown. For live video, free race programs, replays and more, go to Redshores.ca.
