Big Heart N Soul puts perfect record on the line

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Undefeated freshman pacing filly Big Heart N Soul will put her perfect harness racing  record on the line Thursday evening in P.E.I. Colt Stakes action at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park during Old Home Week racing.

The capital oval has a 13-dash presentation starting at 6 P.M., featuring five divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies.

The lone $28,200 P.E.I. Colt Stakes Gold division lines up in race 12 with Big Heart N Soul favoured at 5-2 from post 2 for trainer-driver Gilles Barrieau and owner Wayne MacRae of Fall River, N.S.

The daughter of Big Jim has won both of her lifetime starts, including a 1:56.4 victory in her latest appearance at Charlottetown. She began her career with a 1:59.2 score in a P.E.I. Colt Stakes Grassroots division at Red Shores Summerside.

Isle Impress You has post 8 at 3-1 with Ken Murphy driving for trainer Paul Saul Lanigan. The Malicious filly has won two of her three starts for owners Lanigan, Darcy Doyle, Isaac Schurman and Shane Esson.

Starship Daisy is the 7-2 third choice from post 6 with Marc Campbell driving for trainer Earl Watts and owner Francis Poirier of Havre-Aux-Maisons, Que. The Somewhere Fancy filly has won three of four lifetime starts and enters off a 1:57 Atlantic Sires Stakes victory at Summerside.

Country Rhythm leaves from the rail for driver Myles Heffernan Sr., and trainer-owner Myles Heffernan Jr., of Summerville. The Tobago Cays filly won the first P.E.I. Colt Stakes Gold division of the season in 1:59.1 at Summerside.

The field also includes Redland Equinox (To be driven by Kenny Arsenault), Imafancyfilly (Jason Hughes), Dulcinea (Paul Langille) and Rosetown Aurora (Corey MacPherson).

The Post Time Picks go with Big Heart N Soul to continue her perfection.

“Big Heart N Soul has been perfect through two starts to start her career and her latest win was an eye-catching mile of 1:56.4, last quarter in 28.1. This daughter of Big Jim has drawn well for this assignment, so I’m betting she makes it three straight for trainer-driver Gilles Barrieau.”

Four $14,100 P.E.I. Colt Stakes Grassroots divisions are scheduled in races 1, 5, 7 and 10.

The Thursday program also includes the Apps and Etta Arsenault Memorial in race 6, the Wilbur and Eileen Doyle Memorial in race 10 and the Joe and Wal Hennessey Memorial in race 11.
