Australian import passes at Mohawk

Harness racing gelding King Triton A (American Ideal), who shipped to North America in late 2022, fell during his first start at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (Apr. 1) and passed away.

He was racing fifth through the first half but dropped back around the final turn. The gelding then began to stamp his feet and toss his head and fell on the track. Driver Austin Sorrie was tossed from the bike.

Woodbine Communications confirmed the horse passed away on Twitter. There is no information available on Sorrie’s condition.

The horse, an eight-year-old, won 10 races and earned $75,022 in his career. He raced in Australia until M T Stables of Scarborough bought him in fall 2022 and debuted him at Pocono Downs in November. His race at Woodbine Mohawk Park was his first at the track and in Canada under new trainer Carmen Auciello.
