The Ron Matheson trainee, Blood Money ($2.20) was all business from post 5 for driver Gilles Barrieau, blasting to the lead and controlling every station in the feature while stopping the clock in a sharp 1:52 flat for his sixth straight win. The 10-year-old son of Sweet Lou laid down fractions of 27.4, 56.1 and 1:24.2 before pacing home a one-and-a-half length win for owner Dr. Mitchell Downey of Saint John, N.B.

Twin B Tuffenuff (Driven by Corey MacPherson) sat the pocket throughout and finished second while Nuttin But Finesse (Mike Downey) rounded out the triactor.

BLOOD MONEY REPLAY

The win was the fastest victory by a free-legged pacer in the history of Atlantic Canadian Harness Racing, unseating the 1:52.1 record held by Hot Deuce in a 2017 Governor’s Plate elimination at Red Shores Summerside, Beachin Lindy from Old Home Week 2022 and Wind Blown in September of 2025 at Red Shores Charlottetown.

The Earl Watts stable doubled up Saturday evening as Starship Glyde ($3.60) drew away to a decisive six-and-a-half length victory in the race 12 finale in 1:55.4 for owners Windemere Farms of Springvale for driver Paul Langille and Starship Sharky ($3.40) in race 4 for driver Adam Merner and owner-breeder Claude Poirier in 1:58.1.

MacPherson scored a quadruple on the evening winning with Th Spikey Mikey ($6.10) in race 6 with a 1:56.4 mile from his own barn, Tahoe Seelster ($13.80) in race 3 in 1:58.3 for trainer Tom Weatherbie, Woodmere Bullet ($9.60) in race 2 from the Jamie Smith barn in 1:58.2 and Bohannon ($12.20) in race 10 for conditioner Carson Wilkie in a 1:59.2 clocking.

Brigus ($20.00) sprung the biggest upset of the night in race 8 for trainer Nick Oakes and owner Milton Young of Paradise, N.L. Ken Murphy sent the Betterthancheddar gelding directly to the front and the five-year-old refused to yield, holding off heavy favourite Fast Louie (David Dowling) in 1:54.3. Hunters Hero (Landon Campbell) completed the ticket.

Live racing continues Monday afternoon at 12:30 P.M., for the season opener at Red Shores Summerside. For more go to Redshores.ca.
