All okay in Grand River accident

All drivers and horses in the 10th-race harness racing accident at Grand River Raceway on Friday (Jul. 7) walked away with no injuries, according to Racing Manager Chad Rozema.

While racing to three-quarters, Cranberry Brie (Nick Boyd), who was the first horse on the inside, broke stride and caused a chain reaction among the horses behind him. He backed into T C Scandal (Colin Kelly), who jumped and backed into hooking wheels with Watch Me Dance (Anthony Haughan). Fear The Smoothie hit the back of them, fell, and unseated driver Preston Shaw.

All horses and drivers left the track unscathed. The judges declared the race a no-contest.

Happy to report all horses and drivers in R10 @GrandRR got up and exited the track without injury. Great job by all horsepeople and personnel to act quickly. Race 10 was also declared a no contest by the AGCO judges.
