Zuzu Zoom leads Milby grand slam

FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — Zuzu Zoom became the highlight of a driving grand slam for Frank Milby on Thursday (Nov. 5) at Rosecroft Raceway when she parlayed a pocket trip into a third consecutive harness racing win in a co-featured $8,750 conditioned trotting event.

Milby and Zuzu Zoom secured a two-hole ride behind 2-5 pacesetter and Virginia invader Youngblood (driven by Archie Buford) through a :28.1 first quarter before being boxed by the first-over Swan Jayden (Ken Weckstein) through middle splits of :59.2 and 1:28.1. As Swan Jayden began to weaken midway around the final turn, Milby pointed Zuzu Zoom off the pegs to take aim at Youngblood, and the 3-year-old Walner-Zoes Choice filly ground forward to prevail in the final yards of a 1:56.3 mile. Youngblood was a game second, beaten by a half length; I’m Early Hanover (William Carter) finished third, another 6-1/4 lengths in arrears.
